On Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at 6:00 p.m., in room 101 in Stevenson Hall, Dr. Wei Hao, FSA, CFA, an actuary at State Farm Insurance, will make a presentation on asset-liability management. Pizza and soft drinks will be provided. All students are welcome.
On Monday, October 24th, in STV 101 at 6:30PM, general Officers Kelsie Klingenberg, Kristen Marshall, and Evan Young will be giving this Fall's How to Pass Presentation. All three of our officers managed to pass at least one exam before the start of their Sophomore year. So this will be a very helpful event as they will be presenting about their study methods, exam preparation and how they managed to pass exams so quickly. Dress will be casual. All students welcome.
On Monday, October 10, 2016, 500 p.m. till 8 p.m., in rooms 401 and 401A in Stevenson Hall, the Actuarial Club hosted a study night before midterms. Students could come and ask any last minute questions to each other to prepare for midterm exams. There was be a room for group study and another room for quiet individual study. Our exam study group leaders for P, FM, and MFE were also there. Refreshments were provided. All students were welcome. The Dress was Casual.
On Monday, September 26, 2016, at 6:30 p.m., in room 401 in Stevenson Hall, undergraduate and graduate students who had internships last year shared their experiences as well as answered any questions that other student might have. All students were welcome.
On Saturday, September 24th, at 11:00 a.m. in People's Park, the Actuarial Club held our annual picnic event as well as our Second Annual Scavenger Hunt event.
On Wednesday, September 21st at 6pm in STV 401 Aaron Puntriano and Tyler Yancey gave their summary report on the Society of Actuaries Centers of Actuarial Excellence Students Summit and informed students of the changes that are happening in actuarial education. All students were welcome.
The 2016 High School Actuarial Career Fairs were held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 in Normal, Illinois, and on Friday, October 7, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois. These annual fairs are primarily intended for high school students, but are open to college students, and anyone else seeking to learn about the actuarial career. These are not employment events, but rather meetings designed to provide information about the actuarial career. No resumes are accepted. The events were held:

2016 Meet the Firms event was held Thursday, September 15, 2016, 5:00 p.m. -- 8:00 p.m. in the Prairie Room of the Bone Student Center on campus of Illinois State University, in Normal, Illinois. Campus map can be found at: http://www.IllinoisState.edu/map/. This event was an opportunity for actuarial employers to present themselves to students and collect students' resumes for internships and jobs. On Thursday, September 15, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., in room 401 in Stevenson Hall, Mr. Brian Brown, FCAS, President of the Casualty Actuarial Society and alumnus of Illinois State University, made a presentation for our students. All students were welcome.
On Monday, September 12, 2016, at 6:30 p.m., in room 401 in Stevenson Hall, representatives of the RLI Insurance made a presentation about their company and opportunities available with them. Pizza and soft drinks were provided by RLI. All students were welcome.
On Thursday, September 8, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in Stevenson Hall room 101, officers of the Actuarial Club helped answer any questions that freshmen/new students might have. This event is specifically designed for freshmen, transfer students and anyone new to the Actuarial Program, but all students were welcome. Dress was casual.
On Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 6:30 p.m., in room 101 in Stevenson Hall, representatives of the Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) made a presentation about their company and opportunities available with them. Pizza and soft drinks were provided by RGA. All students were welcome.
On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at 6:00 p.m., in room 401 in Stevenson Hall, representatives of the Allstate Insurance made a presentation about their company and opportunities available with them. All students were welcome.
On Thursday, September 1, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in Stevenson Hall room 401A, Debbie Ungson-Walbert from the Career Center at Illinois State University spoke about the career planning resources available to actuarial students from the Career Center. All students were welcome.
On Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in Stevenson Hall room 101, the Actuarial Program and the Actuarial Club held the first general meeting of the Club this semester. Ms. Judy Cheng, President of the Actuarial Club spoke about the planned activities of the Club and Dr. Krzysztof Ostaszewski spoke about resources available to students. Pizza and soft drinks were provided. All students were welcome.

The 2016 Actuarial Banquet, open to all actuarial students, was held on Friday, April 29, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. in The Chateau hotel. Our banquet speaker was Ms. Sarah Weller, FSA, alumna of our program and an actuary at the Reinsurance Group of America (RGA).
On Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 6 p.m. in Stevenson Hall room 401, Mr. Erich Brandt, Mr. Greg Fears and Mr. Nik Easley, actuaries at Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, and alumni of our program, made a presentation about Workers' Compensation system.
On Thursday, April 14, at 6 pm, in CVA 147, Mr. Drew Lawyer of Earnix, an ISU alumnus, made a presentation entitled "Internal Data + External Data = Better Models".

On Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at 6 p.m., in STV 401, the Actuarial Program and the Actuarial Club hosted a presentation by Mr. Chris Holt of Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, on stochastic reserving methodologies. His Powerpoint presentation is posted here.
On Monday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m., in Stevenson Hall room 101, the second general meeting of the Actuarial Club for Spring 2016 was held. Mike Paradiso, Actuarial Club President, discussed the upcoming elections for the Actuarial Club for the 2016/2017 academic year, and Dr. Krzysztof Ostaszewski, Actuarial Program Director, discussed resources made available to actuarial students at Illinois State University.
On Monday, March 14, at 11:00 am., in Stevenson Hall room 401, we made an announcement of the award of the 2016 Lee Ann Murray "Everything Counts" Scholarship. The 2016 winners are: Mr. Alexander Crosby, Mr. David Holden, and Ms. Li Wiles.
On Thursday, March 3, at 6:00 pm., in Williams Hall room 001F, Mr. Aaron Hillebrandt, FCAS, consulting actuary with Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, our alumnus and a member of our Advisory Board, made a presentation "Plotting Your Actuarial Career Trajectory". Pizza and soft drinks were provided.
The 2016 Actuarial Research Event will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. in Stevenson Hall room 101. Professor Olivier LeCourtois of EM Lyon Business School in Lyon, France, will speak on some reseaerch issues arising from the topics of the Associateship level professional actuarial examinations. This event is always open to the public.
On Wednesday, February 3, at 6:30 p.m. in STV 401, Actuarial Club Officers Isidro Espinoza, Jessica Ackley, Uktamjan Kamilov, and Tyler Shalitis shared their internship experiences, answered questions, and offered advice to students who are looking for internships.
On Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at 6 p.m., in STV 401, the Actuarial Program and the Actuarial Club hosted a presentation by State Farm actuaries, Mr. Glen Simpson and Mr. Brian Buss, on actuarial practice in health insurance.
