Transfer Students

External Transfer Students

This section is for those students who are currently enrolled at an institution of higher learning different from ISU.

NOTE: If you are admitted to a sequence in the Mathematics Major, it is very important that you attend one of the Transfer Registration Days in order to register for classes.

Minimum Requirements:

NOTE: Meeting the minimum entrance requirements is not sufficient to be guaranteed admittance into the desired program.

Actuarial Science: The equivalents of MAT 145, Calculus I and MAT 146, Calculus II completed with a B or better, 2.0 or better Overall GPA, 2.5 or better Mathematics GPA.

Mathematics: The equivalents of MAT 145, Calculus I and MAT 146, Calculus II completed with a C or better, 2.0 or better Overall GPA, 2.0 or better Mathematics GPA.

Mathematics Secondary Teacher Certification: The equivalents of MAT 145, Calculus I and MAT 146, Calculus II completed with a C or better, 2.8 or better Overall GPA, 2.8 or better Mathematics GPA.

Statistics: The equivalents of MAT 145, Calculus I and MAT 146, Calculus II completed with a C or better, 2.0 or better Overall GPA, 2.0 or better Mathematics GPA.

Minors: Same as corresponding majors.

Recommended Coursework:

For those students who have completed an associate's degree or those students who have completed their General Education Requirements, it is highly recommended that these students also complete the equivalent of MAT 147, Calculus III and a proof-based linear algebra course equivalent to MAT 175, Elementary Linear Algebra.

Internal Transfer Students

This section is for students who are currently enrolled at ISU and want to change their major to one of the sequences offered by the Mathematics Department. This includes those students wanting to switch from one sequence in the Mathematics Major to another sequence in this major.

Procedure:

As an ISU student, you need to complete a change of major request online through My Illinois State. All requests for admission to a major in the Mathematics Department will be held and these requests will be considered by September 30th and February 28th each year.
