Minors

The requirements for a minor in Mathematics are:

  • 22-24 credit hours in Mathematics required
  • MAT 145 and MAT 146 required
  • At least four courses chosen from: MAT 147, 175, 236, 247, 250, 260, 330, 336, 337, 340, 341, 351, 361, 362, 363, 378. (Note: MAT 350 can be substituted for MAT 250 in the minor with Adviser permission.)

For Teacher Education Majors:

As of February 2012, if you are a secondary teacher education major and you want to be highly qualified in mathematics, you must pass the State fo Illinois Mathematics Area Content Exam and you must complete 24 credit hours in mathematics content courses that count for major/minor credit of which at least 12 credit hours must be at the 200-level or above.
