Clinical and Student Teaching Information

Teacher candidates participate in extensive pre-student teaching field experiences at formal and informal education sites around central Illinois. Student teaching placements are available in central Illinois or in the Chicago area. These experiences prepare preservice teachers to be licensed in Illinois to serve as classroom mathematics teachers for Grades 9–12. With an additional course, students may add a middle school mathematics endorsement to their teaching license that allows them to teach in Grades 5–8 as well. Other teaching license endorsements may be pursued as well, by discussing options with the Department’s student advisor.
